Nick Joaquin: Summer Solstice

His writings are gentle but brutal just like the Summer Solstice story he wrote.The women in the story or the tadtarin are very brutal. For them,dignity is not important, they didn't give great value on their part.Instead of protecting themselves from brutal situation,they are  the one doing that brutality.Joining procession without wearing any clothes is not really easy to do but  for  them, they didn't care if somebody saw their naked bodies as long as they can celebrate the St.John's feast even in their grotesque image.
The story is not good for students especially the ladies.God bestowed us our holy body to use in a good and desirable manner not for unnecessary acts,which we have to protect from brutality and danger.
